Job summary

First Recruitment Group is seeking a Managing Quantity Surveyor for project-based work across Teesside, Leeds, or Newcastle. The role requires leadership of the commercial team on infrastructure and civil projects, with a focus on cost control and value for money.

Candidates should be Chartered or working towards RICS, and able to coach peers while delivering high standards and client satisfaction. This is a 12‑month Inside IR35 contract, on‑site, with Monday–Friday hours.

Responsibilities

• Administer and manage NEC contracts effectively
• Measure, value, and record work per rules and procedures
• Prepare payments, data assurance and final accounts
• Monitor costs and produce cost vs value reconciliations
• Review programmes and plan commercial activities to fit project requirements
• Oversee procurement and value-for-money in supply chain
• Identify and manage commercial risks with project teams
• Coach and mentor junior team members
• Hold or work towards RICS membership
