Job summary

BAE Systems seeks a Lead Quality Engineer to provide specialist guidance to the Quality Function and ensure compliance with the local Quality Management System. You will manage tasks, deliver results, and drive improvement initiatives across the business unit.

The role requires SME-level knowledge of quality processes, with focus on audits, non-conformances, and supplier quality, on a 4-day-per-week on-site arrangement in Barrow-in-Furness.

Qualifications

• Experience applying ISO 9001/EN9100 standards.
• Subject Matter Expert in quality discipline.
• Knowledge of product safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Undertake specialist non-routine and/or complex Quality Assurance activities.
• Access and understand develop local Management System documentation (policies, procedures, risk assessments).
• Ensure cross-functional processes are deployed and adhered to.
• Lead/support internal audits and supplier audits.
• Lead management of non-conformance resolution and corrective actions with stakeholders.

About The Role:

About The Role: The role of the Quality Engineer is to provide specialist guidance and support to the Quality Function whilst ensuring that the Business Unit remains compliant to the local Quality Business Management System You will manage your own tasks, delivering results, anticipating and escalating problem areas You will conduct specialist Quality activities in accordance with relevant processes and procedures Subject Matter Expert (SME) in your own specialist area, leading improvement initiatives across the across the Business Unit to drive Quality performance

Key Responsibilities:

• Undertake specialist non-routine and or complex Quality Assurance activities and tasks
• Able to access, have a clear understanding of and develop the local Management System documentation e.g. policies, procedures, workmanship standards, risk assessments and processes
• Ensure cross functional processes are deployed and adhered to
• Lead/support internal audits and supplier audits
• Lead the management of non-conformance resolution and corrective actions with key stakeholders and process owners

Skills & Qualifications :

• Understanding and application of ISO 9001/ EN9100 standards
• Subject Matter Expert (SME) own discipline within Quality and a broad understanding of other Quality related disciplines
• Knowledge of and experience of product safety
