Job summary

Selwood Ltd in Nottingham seeks a Workshop Manager to lead the workshop team, oversee servicing, maintenance and repairs of the pump fleet, and ensure safety and compliance. You will drive productivity, coordinate workloads, and champion high standards across the branch.

The role requires NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, strong diesel engine experience, and proven leadership of a workshop. A full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel are advantageous.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Strong experience working with diesel engines to repair and diagnose faults and perform routine maintenance.
• Experience in leading and managing a workshop and yard function, maximizing productivity, quality, and client service.
• Proven ability to motivate, develop and engage a team; good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience promoting a strong Health & Safety culture and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day workshop operations, ensuring servicing, maintenance, repairs, and modifications meet standards and legal requirements.
• Manage daily engineering workloads to meet business needs and resolve challenges.
• Ensure fleet servicing schedules are followed and equipment is maintained per manufacturer requirements.
• Monitor equipment reliability and work with technical teams to implement improvements.
• Lead, coach and motivate a high-performing team to maximise productivity, engagement, performance and quality.
• Provide day-to-day direction and support to ensure work is completed safely and efficiently.
• Manage team development, performance, absence and misconduct per company policies.
• Lead and promote a strong health and safety culture across branch activities.
• Ensure compliance with SHEQ policies, procedures, and statutory regulations.
