Job Title: Lead Project Manager
Reports to: Programme Manager

Department Description

The Technology department is responsible for establishing, monitoring, and maintaining information technology systems and services to enable business users to perform their roles efficiently, securely, and productively.

The department must stay at the forefront of technological change to meet business requirements, provide secure IT infrastructure, and support C4's strategic growth opportunities.

Job Purpose

This role manages strategic and transformation projects within Technology that are vital to Channel 4. The job holder will lead a team of delivery, support, functional, and technical professionals (both on and off-shore) and serve as the main point of engagement for project implementation to meet business needs.

Projects involve development across multiple cross-functional systems (both in-house and external) and require interfacing with third parties. Experience delivering large (£3m+) and complex projects across multiple teams and business areas is essential. The role requires working cooperatively with senior stakeholders, managing scope, prioritization, budget, timelines, communications, and resources.

Key Responsibilities

1. Project Planning: Lead multi-phased, multi-party projects, including design formulation with architects, build and test efforts, and integration with legacy and ongoing projects.
2. Project Control: Develop and monitor plans for project scope, schedule, and cost. Approve and implement changes within the governance framework, oversee change logs, and ensure proper documentation.
3. Project Communications & Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with the IT Programme Manager to communicate project information effectively, resolve issues, and report status to relevant stakeholders.
4. Project Risk and Issue Management: Define and monitor risks, develop mitigation strategies, and advise on actions. Resolve problems by analyzing issues and reallocating resources as needed.
5. Resource Management: Manage teams of solution architects, business analysts, technical specialists, and project leads. Ensure team development and performance.
6. Budget and Cost Control: Maintain transparent cost control and provide regular forecasts against the budget.
7. System Development Lifecycle: Oversee the full lifecycle from inception to live deployment, including user support post-implementation.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Proven experience managing multiple small to medium-scale, complex projects.
• Minimum 5 years of project management experience.
• Experience managing teams and outsourced development.
• Ability to manage multiple projects independently and take accountability.
• Strong communication skills, clear under pressure.
• Deep understanding of the technology development lifecycle.
• Experience with supplier management, legal, and procurement processes.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and provide solutions.
• Knowledge of project management methodologies like PRINCE2, Agile, SCRUM, KANBAN.
• Ability to quickly learn about applications and business functions.
• Proven success with demanding customers and tight deadlines.
• Excellent collaboration, presentation, numeracy, and negotiation skills.
• Leadership skills to motivate and develop staff.

• Knowledge of media and broadcast industry.
• Experience with commercial off-the-shelf applications and CRM projects.
• Experience with Addressable Linear Advertising (ALA).
• Understanding of creative and marketing applications.
