Job summary

Morson Edge in Portsmouth is seeking a Production Engineering Manager to lead and optimise the production engineering function. The role focuses on improving workflows, manufacturability, and continuous improvement across assembly and test processes, aligning with H&S and quality standards.

The ideal candidate has an engineering background with experience in fabrication or engineered-to-order environments, plus a strong lean manufacturing mindset for low/medium volume production.

Qualifications

• Engineering background in mechanical, manufacturing or industrial disciplines.
• Proven experience in fabrication or engineered-to-order manufacturing.
• Strong understanding of lean manufacturing in low/medium volume production.
• Hands-on, practical engineering mindset.
• Experience with chillers, heat exchangers, HVAC, refrigeration or sheetmetal fabrication is highly beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the production engineering function across manufacturing.
• Improve workflows, routing, and shop floor efficiency.
• Drive design-for-manufacture (DFM) improvements with design engineers.
• Collaborate with fabrication, assembly, and test teams to resolve production issues.
• Lead lean manufacturing and continuous improvement activities.
• Identify and deliver measurable improvements in cost, quality, and lead time.
• Support introduction of new products into production.
• Ensure compliance with H&S and quality standards.
