Role overview

Design at Lightyear is run by Kish. Here’s how he describes the role, the team, and the state of Design at Lightyear:

We’re an ambitious team aiming to become the leading investment platform across Europe. We’ve built a product that customers love, but it’s still early days, and there’s much more to design and build.

That’s where you come in! As our second Product Designer (alongside Kish), you’ll help translate customer needs, business goals, and our brand into an intuitive and beautiful product.

This is a significant ownership role, ideal for someone who loves their craft, values autonomy, and wants to shape a growing company from the ground up.

Our small, talented design team currently includes just me and Josh, who handles Brand Design. We foster ownership, minimal bureaucracy, and high standards, with strong support from our founders for design excellence.

About You

• You’re an experienced Product Designer (or Design Manager/VP returning to craft)
• You have 7+ years of proven experience in-house or at agencies, preferably in high-growth startups
• You want to create amazing work
• You’re visually strong with great taste
• You work efficiently and own projects end-to-end
• You understand how code works and how great software is built
• You prioritize user experience and customer needs
• You have investment knowledge and market awareness
• You’re highly proficient in Figma
• You excel at presenting your work, incorporating feedback, and rationalizing design decisions
• You can design compelling landing pages
• You’ve experimented with AI tools in your work
• Time management and prioritization are second nature to you

What you will do

• Design the Lightyear app, web platform, marketing materials, and landing pages
• Create visually appealing, well-crafted designs, incorporating motion where suitable
• Collaborate closely with Product Managers and Engineers, owning all aspects of design
• Understand customer needs through research, data analysis, and direct customer engagement
• Seek feedback regularly, communicate your work clearly, and iterate effectively
• Contribute to and maintain our Design System
