Job summary

Carrington West seeks a Senior Process Engineer for water infrastructure based in Peterborough or Norwich. Lead process design across water and wastewater projects, ensuring robust, buildable solutions aligned with programme, cost and quality.

The role offers hybrid working with site visits, a company car, and clear opportunities to mentor junior engineers while developing technical leadership across a broad pipeline of projects in the East of England.

Qualifications

• Degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Experience delivering process design within the water sector.
• Experience with water treatment, wastewater treatment, pumping stations, networks or related infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of process calculations, hydraulic design and equipment.
• Experience producing or reviewing P&IDs and process flow diagrams.
• Knowledge of engineering standards, environmental regulations and process safety.

Responsibilities

• Lead and review process design activities across water and wastewater projects.
• Review mass balances, hydraulic calculations, P&IDs and process flow diagrams.
• Check technical calculations, drawings and design documents prior to issue.
• Provide technical guidance to engineers and design team.
• Respond to design queries during construction.
• Plan design activities with Project Design Managers to meet requirements.
• Review supplier designs and technical submissions.
• Support selection and specification of process equipment.
• Ensure compliance with standards, environmental regulations and safety requirements.
• Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with construction teams.
