Job summary

Carrington West is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer for a major water infrastructure programme in Peterborough. You will lead civil design across water and wastewater schemes, ensuring robust, buildable solutions and compliance with standards. The role offers hybrid working with site visits and ongoing professional development.

You will guide engineers, review calculations and drawings, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver quality outcomes on time and within budget.

Qualifications

• Degree or masters in Civil Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Significant UK water/civil design experience.
• Experience in water/wastewater infrastructure projects.
• Detail design delivery within Design & Build environments.
• Strong knowledge of reinforced concrete design (BS EN 1992).
• Experience with water-retaining structures and ground engineering.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership across water and wastewater civil design.
• Lead and review civil design from concept to construction.
• Check calculations, drawings, and 3D models for quality and compliance.
• Ensure designs meet standards, regulatory requirements, and project specs.
• Mentor and coach junior engineers within multidisciplinary teams.
• Support buildability reviews with construction teams.
• Collaborate with BIM, project management, and site teams to optimise solutions.
• Promote sustainable, low-carbon design across projects.
