Job summary

SSE plc is seeking a Lead Principal Engineer – HVDC P&C to shape technical standards and drive delivery across major offshore transmission projects. You will lead HVDC strategies, influence design decisions and ensure safety and regulatory compliance.

Based in Scotland with 50% office presence, you will collaborate across departments and with technology providers to advance HVDC capability and deliver the programme valued at ~£30bn over five years.

Qualifications

• Degree in engineering; Chartered Engineer status preferred.
• Experience in HVDC P&C design or operations.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for HVDC P&C initiatives, ensuring compliance with requirements.
• Drive proactive resolution of technical issues across the programme and foster collaboration.
