Job summary

REESON Education is recruiting an experienced Primary School Learning Mentor for a Brent primary school, commencing November 2026. You will support pupils across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 with structured mentoring and behavioural support.

The role requires confidence handling challenging behaviour, building positive relationships and using practical strategies to de-escalate situations and promote engagement in learning.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as Learning Mentor, Behaviour Mentor, or similar role preferred.
• Confident with presence, authority and excellent behaviour management skills.
• Experience supporting pupils with SEMH and challenging behaviour.
• Good safeguarding awareness and sound professional judgement.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group mentoring for pupils with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour.
• Use effective behaviour management and de-escalation strategies.
• Establish clear boundaries and routines while maintaining positive relationships.
• Support pupils with emotional regulation, resilience and engagement in learning.
• Work with teachers, SEN staff, pastoral teams and external professionals.
• Intervene proactively when behaviour escalates and support learning transitions.
• Support pupils inside and outside the classroom during transitions.
