Job summary

HEART Academies Trust in Bedford is seeking a Lead Teacher and Practitioner for Business Studies. The role focuses on strategic leadership of the Business department, driving high standards in teaching, learning and student achievement across GCSE and BTEC, with collaboration across local schools.

The post requires a proven track record in teaching the full range of ability and a commitment to improving outcomes for all students within an inclusive environment.

Qualifications

• Experience teaching Key Stages 4 and 5.
• Ability to lead and inspire a Business department.
• Understanding of the curriculum across key stages.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic vision, direction, and leadership for the Business department across GCSE, BTEC and future developments.
• Drive student achievement and standards in business education.
• Develop partnerships with Business Leads from other Bedford Schools to improve provision.
• Ensure BA course results exceed national averages.
• Support teaching and learning across staff as needed by SLT.

Main Duties Include

• To be Lead Teacher and Practitioner for all Business courses run at BA.
• To provide strategic vision, direction, and leadership for the Business department, ensuring high standards of teaching, learning, and student achievement across all Key Stages (including GCSE, BTEC, and any future developments within the subject).
• To develop a working partnership and party with Business Leads from other Bedford Schools, to improve the quality of Business provision across the Borough.
• To continue to ensure that Business course results are consistently above National averages for BA students.
• To support the Teaching and Learning of other staff within specific areas of the school where this is requested by SLT. As agreed with the Lead Practitioner through effective line management.
