Lead Practitioner - Maths


Location: Staffordshire University Academy
Contract: Permanent


Work pattern: 32.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Salary: LP 1-5 (£52,026 - £57,418)
Start date: 1st January 2027

Staffordshire University Academy are looking to recruit a lead practitioner to join our experienced and supportive maths team. The department is an experienced team who deliver lessons in mixed-ability groups and scaffold learning to ensure the best outcomes for all students. This position would suit an experienced maths teacher or someone seeking to further their leadership experience.

About the role:


  • Deliver consistently high-quality, inspiring and engaging math’s teaching that supports excellent outcomes for all students.

  • Demonstrate and promote the vision, values and ethos of Staffordshire University Academy.

  • Act as a model of outstanding classroom practice, supporting high standards of teaching and learning across the math’s faculty.

  • Lead an agreed aspect of faculty development within math’s, contributing to continuous improvement.

  • Support the effective implementation and delivery of the math’s curriculum to meet the needs of all students.

  • Use evidence-informed practice and assessment effectively to improve student progress, attainment and outcomes.

  • Support high-quality assessment, recording, tracking and reporting of student progress across the faculty.

  • Provide effective leadership, coaching and professional support to colleagues to develop teaching practice.

  • Work collaboratively with students, parents/carers, colleagues and leaders to support student achievement and engagement.

  • Actively engage with the Academy’s appraisal and professionaldevelopment processes, including completing an annual evidence-informed research project.

  • Support and promote the aims, ethos, policies and procedures of the Academy, acting as a model of excellent professional practice.

  • Lead and promote a positive learning culture across the faculty and wider Academy, championing highly effective teaching and learning.

  • Research and share evidence-informed best practice, drawing on effective approaches from other schools and academies to support continuous improvement.

  • Lead and contribute to faculty CPD, encouraging collaboration, professional discussion and the sharing of best practice.

  • Act as a teaching and learning coach, proactively supporting colleagues to develop their practice, including supporting ECTs in liaison with the ECF lead.

  • Work collaboratively with leaders to support Academy priorities and ensure the effective management and use of resources within the curriculum area and across the Academy.
