Main duties of the job

Clinical Leadership

  • Provide effective clinical leadership to the nursing team.
  • Champion evidence-based nursing care and best practices.

Patient Care & Chronic Disease Management

  • Oversee chronic disease clinics and long-term condition management.
  • Deliver high-quality care across treatment planning, implementation, and review.
  • Promote proactive health education and disease prevention strategies.
  • Deliver own nurse-led clinics (e.g., asthma, diabetes, hypertension).

Team Management & Mentoring

  • Supervise, mentor, and appraise nursing staff and students.
  • Support professional development and performance improvement.
  • Manage nursing rotas to ensure effective clinic coverage and staff balance.

Policy, Compliance & Clinical Standards

  • Develop and review nursing protocols and clinical procedures. Ensure compliance with CQC regulations and NHS standards. Participate in audits, QI initiatives, and root cause analyses for incidents.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Work closely with GPs, the Practice Manager, and multidisciplinary colleagues.
  • Liaise with external agencies, community services, and safeguarding teams.
  • Represent nursing in practice meetings and strategic planning.
