Job summary
A UK-based innovation centre is seeking a Principal Power Electronics Engineer to lead R&D projects in power electronics technologies. You will provide technical leadership, support engineering teams, and influence design strategy across key sectors including aerospace and automotive. Qualifications
Strong experience in power electronics, ideally within aerospace, automotive, or industrial domains.
Hands-on expertise with high-voltage systems, multilevel inverter topologies, and wide-bandgap materials (SiC/GaN).
Familiarity with aerospace standards such as DO254 or DO160.
A proactive mindset and the ability to lead technically and mentor others.
Responsibilities
Provide technical leadership across multiple R&D programmes and influence design direction and long-term strategy.
Lead projects involving high-power SiC-based systems (100kW–2MW), EV propulsion, and aerospace auxiliary power applications.
Support engineering teams and mentor others to develop technical capabilities.
