Job summary

National Grid Electricity Distribution (NGED) seeks a Lead Policy Engineer (Transformers and Static Wound Equipment) to shape and govern NGED standards, and to represent NGED in national and international groups. You will balance safety, cost and reliability while guiding policy across the business and industry.

Reporting to the Engineering Policy Manager, you will provide technical leadership, support global tendering processes, and approve design deviations, ensuring delivery within budgets

Responsibilities

• Approve development and review of policy communications.
• Provide up-to-date expertise on UK and international policies.
• Develop and improve equipment, installation and maintenance techniques for safety and efficiency.
• Support Procurement in global tendering processes.
• Represent NGED on national and international committees and lead responses to consultations.
• Maintain deep technical knowledge of Transformers and Static Wound Equipment.
