Job summary

Gov Facilities Services Limited (GFSL) is seeking a Mechanical Supervisor (Plumbing) for HMP Whitemoor in Cambridgeshire. The role leads a team of skilled trades in a high-security environment, ensuring safe operation of building services and compliant maintenance across the site.

The role requires significant FM/secure environment plumbing experience, strong leadership, and robust health & safety knowledge.

Qualifications

• A minimum of five years' experience, ideally within an FM environment and/ or secure environment, military, health or similar sectors.
• Experience working on commercial or industrial heating, water or building service systems.
• Familiar with Water Supply Regulation and Control of Legionella L8 requirements.
• Good Health & Safety knowledge.
• Excellent organisational, time management and people skills.
• A rounded knowledge of risk and compliance and demonstrable planning & project management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise the mechanical/plumbing maintenance team at HMP Whitemoor.
• Ensure safe, compliant operation of heating, water and building services.
• Coordinate and prioritise planned and reactive maintenance work with teams of plumbers, electricians, cleaners and administrators.
• Promote rehabilitation and a safe, secure prison environment through effective facilities management.
