Job summary

Mettler-Toledo International, Inc. is seeking a Lead Software Engineer in Salford to set the technical direction for a major platform.

You will lead a team moving from Windows to Linux, work with an international Debian-based Linux environment, and collaborate with remote development teams to align platform and application requirements. The role requires strong leadership, Linux expertise, and the ability to work independently and within a multi-disciplinary team.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in electronics, physics or another relevant engineering related degree.
Experience of developing object-oriented applications using a C-like language, ideally C++, C# or Java.
Experience in developing for embedded Linux systems.
Knowledge of system architecture design.
Good interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Provide technical leadership to the development team transitioning to Linux from a Windows environment.
Coordinate with remote platform development team to align platform and application development.
Keep application teams updated on platform developments.
Collaborate with team leaders to design platform architecture for Debian-based Linux.
Elicit requirements, write software specifications, and produce technical documentation.
Maintain awareness of new technologies, techniques and methodologies.
Identify and fix defects with the Software Test Team.
