Job summary

Lockheed Martin in Ampthill, Bedfordshire, UK, is recruiting an experienced Project Engineer - Physical Architecture Lead to drive the physical architecture and system integration for a Defence sector project. You will oversee a Mechanical, Electrical, and I&T team, coordinating across IPTs to meet schedules and quality targets.

The role requires hands-on delivery across lifecycle stages, from requirements to design, testing and deployment, with strong communication and stakeholder management

Qualifications

• Experience leading physical architecture and system integration in automotive/heavy vehicle contexts.
• Strong design background across mechanical, electrical, and integration & test disciplines.
• Proven project leadership and stakeholder management.
• Ability to obtain and maintain high-level security clearance.
• Degree from an accredited college or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage the Physical Architecture of assigned projects, ensuring alignment with technical, safety, and quality standards.
• Define and interpret technical requirements, translating customer needs into robust engineering solutions.
• Product and maintain design documentation, drawings, specifications and test plans.
• Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure design coherence and successful integration.
• Provide technical support during build, commissioning, and in-service phases.
• Lead design reviews, verification, validation and configuration management activities.
• Liaise with project leads, suppliers and internal stakeholders for effective communications.
