Job summary

Anglian Water is seeking a Lead OT Engineer to provide technical leadership across Operational Technology, overseeing SCADA and PLC systems within its critical infrastructure in Norwich and the wider Norfolk area.

The role is permanent, full time (37 hours with flexibility for part time) with a salary circa £65,000 plus a car allowance and a comprehensive benefits package. You will support field teams, drive OT improvements, and ensure regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Extensive OT Process Control engineering experience.
• Experience with SCADA, PLC and Industrial Networks.
• Ability to write clear, measurable engineering specifications.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and strategic direction across OT systems used in Anglian Water’s operations.
• Act as primary contact for complex OT and process control challenges; support field engineers and operations.
• Diagnose and resolve high-impact technical issues; support large capital schemes.
• Ensure regulatory compliance, reduce leakage and maintain service resilience.
• Review 3rd party technical documentation and designs for automation/SCADA projects.
• Facilitate trials of new Automation/SCADA hardware and systems; assist with on-site commissioning.

What will you be doing?

As a Lead OT Engineer, you will provide technical leadership, oversight, and strategic direction across Operational Technology (OT) systems used within Anglian Water’s operational environments. Acting as the primary point of contact for complex OT and process control challenges, you will support fieldengineers, operational teams, and stakeholders in diagnosing and resolving high-impact technical issues, whilst supporting with the delivery of large capital schemes. Yourexpertisewill be central to ensuring regulatory compliance, reducing leakage and pollution events, and upholding service resilience across our critical infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work with the OT Programme Team and senior business stakeholders to ensure project deliverables and outcomes are fully aligned to AM8goals to enable business outcomes to be achievede.g.ODIs, I2S, energy efficiencies and OPEX savings
• Undertake technical risk assessments todetermineareas of risk and impact of changes to be implemented to existing automation control systems andIndustryControlNetworks
• Responsible for the creation of high-level customer requirements documents (IRDS) and detailed Functional Design Specifications (FDS), including system architectures for new and modifications to existing Automation & SCADA systems, industry control networks
• Work closely with all AWS capital delivery partners (@one/IOS) and 3rd party supplies to ensure new hardware has been fully tested and approved before installation.
• Undertake the review and sign-off of 3rd party technical documentation and designs relating to the delivery of Automation and SCADA capital delivery project
• Support and facilitate POC’s and trials of new Automation/SCADA hardware, technology, and systems to support the delivery of the OT strategye.g.IIoT, Industry 4.0 etc
• Undertake on-site commissioning and service integration of new and modifications relating toexisting PLC/SCADA and industrial control networks

Knowledge & Skills

• Extensive industry experience of engineering, implementing, andmaintainingOT Process Control,
• SCADA,PLCand Industrial Networks
• Provide technicalexpertiseon Telemetry outstations, PLCs/SCADA/HMIsand associated networking infrastructure
• Ability to practically apply available and emerging technologies within OT engineering to deliver robust, reliable, commissionable,operableand maintainableassetswithin a regulatory environment
• Extensive knowledge and experience of the OT discipline, processes,conceptsand best practice
• Proven troubleshooting skills with an ability todemonstratemethodical approaches to problem solving
• Ability to write clear, concise,accurateengineering & design specifications with measurable outputs
• Strong motivation and coaching skills
• Excellent communicatorand able to challenge and collaborate constructivelyat all levels
• Full Driving Licence
