Job summary

Specsavers Northallerton is hiring an Optical Lab Technician to lead a small team and produce high-quality lenses for eyeglasses. The role requires accuracy, precision, and a strong customer‑focused approach in a fast-paced retail environment.

You will work full time (37.5 hours per week) including weekend shifts, with a starting rate of £13 per hour. Specsavers offers their perks and a supportive training program to develop skills in eye care and lab operations.

Qualifications

• Reading lens and frame specifications from prescriptions.
• Using blocking and glazing machines to cut lenses to the correct shape and fit.
• Assembling lenses into frames.
• Tinting of lenses for UV protection and colour options.
• Attention to detail during assembly and finishing.

Responsibilities

• Read prescriptions and lens/frame specs.
• Operate blocking and glazing machines to cut lenses.
• Assemble lenses into frames and tint lenses as required.
• Quality check of completed glasses and housekeeping of work area.
