Job summary

Active Care Group in Birmingham is seeking a Lead Occupational Therapist to drive the transformation of a pioneering neurorehabilitation service. You will lead the OT team, plan complex caseloads, and work autonomously with clients and families to deliver person-centred care.

This role offers opportunities to influence service design, develop new therapy programmes, supervise junior therapists, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team within the Active Neuro division.

Qualifications

• HCPC registration is required.
• Extensive neurological rehabilitation experience.
• Strong leadership and team development capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the OT team delivering a highly specialist service.
• Autonomously plan and prioritise a complex clinical caseload.
• Engage with clients and families to support participation in therapy.
• Provide supervision, teaching, and appraisal for junior staff and students.
• Contribute to planning, development, and evaluation of the OT service.
• Develop OT treatment programmes with clients and carers.
• Participate in clinical audit, risk and quality processes and incident reporting.
• Maintain clear communication with internal and external stakeholders.

Our Birmingham centre is transitioning to Active Neuro, the newly launched division of Active Care Group, providing specialist neurological rehabilitation for adults living with complex neurological conditions. This is a unique opportunity to lead the transformation of a specialist neurological rehabilitation service at a pivotal stage in its journey.

Job responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the Occupational Therapy team, ensuring effective delivery of the highly specialist Occupational Therapy service
• Work as an autonomous practitioner to plan and prioritise a complex clinical caseload
• Work closely with clients and their family/carers to encourage participation in the therapeutic process
• Provide supervision, teaching, and appraisal for junior occupational therapists, assistants, students and other members of the multi-disciplinary team
• Contribute to the planning, development, and evaluation of the Occupational Therapy service
• Develop Occupational therapy Treatment programmes in collaboration with clients, carers and other involved professionals (e.g. Therapeutic Rehabilitation Assistant, Support Workers) to be carried out as appropriate
• Participating in clinical audit, clinical risk and quality issues, including the management and reporting of incidents
• Ensure a high level of communication with internal and external stakeholders
• Participate in the process of positively supporting and inspiring colleagues within the service to improve standards and quality and to develop professional practice
• Keep people safe from harm and protect their human rights
