Job summary

OneAdvanced, based in Birmingham, is seeking a Principal Modern Workplace Consultant to architect, implement, and govern Microsoft 365 and Modern Workplace solutions. You will lead complex projects, define automation, and ensure secure, compliant environments.

You will mentor engineers, author technical docs, and participate in design reviews, contributing to continuous service improvement and governance across customer environments.

Qualifications

• Proven experience architecting, implementing, and supporting Microsoft 365 and Modern Workplace solutions in a managed service or large enterprise environment.
• Outstanding communication skills, able to articulate complex concepts clearly across technical and non-technical audiences.
• Deep understanding of Microsoft Intune, Configuration Manager, Microsoft 365, and Entra services.
• Advanced PowerShell scripting skills and experience automating Microsoft 365 workloads.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Graph API for building and managing configuration programmatically.
• Experience producing and maintaining infrastructure, support, and procedural documentation.
• Ability to lead and contribute to technical design documentation including functional specs and service handover materials.
• Understanding of Incident, Problem and Change Management within the ITIL framework.
• Eligibility to obtain and maintain UK Government Security Check (SC) clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead and implement complex Microsoft 365 and Modern Workplace projects across customer environments.
• Design and implement automation frameworks to manage Microsoft 365 configuration and compliance.
• Define and maintain configuration baselines, policy standards, and technical documentation.
• Ensure environments align with security and operational standards (ISO 27001, 9001, CIS, Cyber Essentials Plus).
• Mentor and guide junior consultants and engineers, enabling upskilling and knowledge sharing.
• Author technical documentation for solutions and changes for long-term support.
• Participate in design reviews and governance for Modern Workplace architectures.
• Contribute to service improvement initiatives, including monitoring, patching, and governance.
