Job summary

Egis is seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer to shape the future of water infrastructure in the UK. Join the expanding UK Water team and lead mechanical design on major water and wastewater programmes across the UK, delivering robust, sustainable solutions in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.

This role requires 7–10+ years of relevant experience, Chartered Engineer status, and a proven track record as a mechanical discipline lead.

Qualifications

• BEng or MEng in Mechanical Engineering.
• Chartered Engineer or Incorporated Engineer (e.g., IMechE).
• 7–10+ years of mechanical design experience.
• Experience in water/wastewater or related sectors.
• Ability to lead mechanical discipline on multidisciplinary projects.
• Knowledge of UK water industry standards and CDM 2015.
• Strong digital skills: BIM/3D, data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design delivery on water/wastewater projects across the full design lifecycle.
• Act as mechanical technical lead, owning design strategy, interfaces, risks and quality of deliverables.
• Review and approve mechanical calculations, specifications, datasheets, reports, P&IDs, layouts and submissions.
• Lead equipment selection and mechanical design for pumps, piping, valves, tanks and process systems.
• Mentor and manage engineers, supporting chartership progression and development.
