Job summary

Egis is recruiting a Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical design on UK water projects. The role offers hybrid working in London, Bristol or Manchester and rapid visibility within a fast-growing team.

You will drive design strategy, coordinate across disciplines, champion BIM/3D workflows and support bids and client engagement. An 8–10+ year background in water or related sectors is ideal.

Qualifications

• BEng/MEng in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Chartered Engineer or Incorporated Engineer with IMechE or similar.
• Typically 8–10+ years of mechanical engineering design experience.
• Background in water, wastewater, biosolids/bioresources or oil & gas.
• Proven ability to lead as mechanical discipline lead on multidisciplinary projects.
• Strong technical expertise in mechanical treatment/process systems and layouts.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design delivery on multidisciplinary water/wastewater projects across full design lifecycle.
• Act as mechanical technical lead on projects; own design strategy, interfaces, risks and deliverables.
• Review and approve mechanical calculations, specs, datasheets, P&IDs, layouts and supplier submissions.
• Lead equipment selection and design for pumps, pipework, valves, tanks and related systems.
• Drive coordination across Process, EICA, civil/structural, MEP, construction and operations teams.
• Promote lean, digitally enabled delivery with BIM/3D coordination and data-led design.
• Provide technical assurance and support project managers on risk, scope and changes.
• Mentor engineers and support chartership progression.
