Job summary

Skilled Careers seeks a Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead the mechanical design for data centre and technology projects in London. You will manage concept to construction, mentor teams and ensure technical excellence across disciplines, while engaging with clients and design partners.

Applicants should have a degree in mechanical engineering, CEng membership, 10+ years' experience in consultancy, and a strong grasp of UK regs.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• CEng with membership (CIBSE/IMechE) preferred.
• 10+ years' experience in mechanical engineering, preferably in consultancy.
• Proven data centre or complex building project delivery.
• Strong client-facing and leadership abilities.
• Knowledge of UK Building Regulations and CIBSE guidance.

Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical design of data centre and technology projects.
• Manage projects from concept through construction and completion.
• Lead and mentor mechanical engineering teams.
• Develop and review designs, calculations and documentation.
• Coordinate designs with clients, architects, contractors and other disciplines.
• Manage programmes, deliverables, quality and compliance.
• Provide technical leadership and resolve complex issues.
• Attend and lead client and design team meetings.
• Support project delivery, commercial management and business development.
• Ensure designs comply with UK regulations and Health & Safety.
