Job summary

Entech Technical Solutions in Clevedon, Somerset, seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the mechanical engineering discipline for semiconductor manufacturing equipment. Hybrid working model applies: onsite 3 days per week in Clevedon and 2 days from home.

  • Develop subject matter expertise in semiconductor mechanical engineering areas.
  • Possess substantial experience in mechanical engineering and design.

Job description

Hybrid – Working onsite 3 days per week in Clevedon (Somerset), and 2 days working from home.

  • Delivers best practice Mechanical Engineering of Semiconductor Manufacturing Equipment.
  • Accountability for the Technical Delivery of Mechanical Engineering expertise to a project, including subsystems and technology developments.
  • Lead and guide Mechanical Engineering activities across applicable projects, which may include leading and motivating a team of 6 Mechanical Engineers if appropriate.
  • Advocate and lead the adoption of best practice Mechanical Engineering to improve the delivery of the engineering function to time, cost, quality and specification, whilst ensuring the appropriate level of effective technical governance is in place for safety, compliance, quality and reliability.
  • Devise and distribute work packages, often across multiple cross functional teams, guiding the project toward a successful passage through project milestones through to completion and volume production.
  • Ensure Mechanical Engineering of Product Development meets stakeholder and product requirements, and is compliant with relevant regulations, directives and standards, by design.
  • Develop Subject Matter Expertise in relevant areas of the Mechanical Engineering of Semiconductor Manufacturing Equipment, as a part of your professional development and towards achievement of Principal Engineer performance and to become recognised as an expert in that those areas.
  • Substantial experience of Mechanical Engineering and Design in a relatable engineering industry (essential).
  • Experience and understanding of working in a regulated, compliance-driven industry (essential) such as the Semiconductor Manufacturing Equipment industry (desirable) including good understanding of product safety and compliance to applicable standards (essential). i.e. EN 61511; Safety and design review methods, e.g., PHA, HAZOP, LOPA, FMEA; Semiconductor industry standards – SEMI S2; Risk assessment – Semi S10.
  • Engineering Degree Bachelors (minimum, essential), Masters (desirable), or demonstrable equivalent.
  • Registered Chartered Engineer, or working towards and committed to achieving registration with a recognised engineering institution (desirable)
  • Preparedness to undertake further professional development incl. through training courses and the like, to increase your knowledge and enhance your capabilities (essential).
