Job summary

ASEE Group is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Manager to lead its mechanical engineering function across projects. You will mentor teams, ensure safety and quality, and drive compliant designs from conception through installation.

In this senior role, you will manage resource planning, collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, and contribute to bids with technical input and risk assessment. Chartered status is desirable while strong leadership is essential.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering; Chartered status desirable.
• Proven experience leading mechanical teams on large projects.
• Knowledge of CAD, BIM and related design tools.
• Strong leadership and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the mechanical engineering team, providing direction, mentorship, and performance management.
• Oversee mechanical design, calculations, and specifications to ensure compliance with client and regulatory requirements.
• Manage resource allocation, workload planning, and team development to meet project deadlines.
• Collaborate with project managers, electrical engineers, and site teams to ensure integrated project delivery.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant industry codes, standards, and best practices.
• Review and approve engineering drawings, designs, and technical documents.
• Monitor and drive continuous improvement in engineering processes, tools, and standards.
• Provide technical expertise in resolving engineering challenges during design, installation, and commissioning.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, and external stakeholders, acting as the senior mechanical engineering representative.
• Support bid and tender processes with technical input, cost estimation, and risk assessment.
