Job summary

TheBusiness in Bolton, United Kingdom, seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer to take full ownership of mechanical design for bespoke machinery and automation systems. You will design new machinery from scratch, lead concept development, prototyping and R&D, and take designs through manufacture.

You will be proficient with Autodesk Inventor and Vault, and comfortable on the workshop floor involved with machine builds as designs move from screen to real world.

Qualifications

• Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent qualifications.
• At least 3 years' experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer in a machinery manufacturing environment.
• Experience designing bespoke machinery, conveyors or handling equipment.
• Strong experience using Autodesk Inventor and Vault.
• Experience managing designs through the full project lifecycle, from concept through manufacture and installation.

Responsibilities

• Design bespoke machinery from concept through to manufacture.
• Produce 3D models, assemblies and detailed drawings using Autodesk Inventor.
• Lead R&D, prototyping and new machine development.
• Design sheet metal and stainless-steel fabricated components.
• Ensure designs are practical, efficient and manufacturable.
• Support machine build, test, installation and commissioning phases.
• Contribute ideas to improve machine performance, build quality and efficiency.
