Job summary

TheBusiness, Bolton-based machinery manufacturer, is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to take full ownership of mechanical design for bespoke machinery and automation systems, from concept through manufacture and installation.

You will design new machines from scratch, lead development and prototyping, and must be proficient in Autodesk Inventor and Vault, comfortable on the workshop floor as builds occur.

Qualifications

• Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent qualifications.
• At least 3 years' experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer in a machinery manufacturing environment.
• Experience designing bespoke machinery, conveyors or handling equipment.
• Experience managing designs through the full project lifecycle from concept to manufacture and install.

Responsibilities

• Design bespoke machinery from concept through to manufacture.
• Produce 3D models, assemblies and detailed drawings using Autodesk Inventor.
• Lead R&D, prototyping and new machine development.
• Design sheet metal and stainless-steel fabricated components.
• Ensure designs are practical, efficient and manufacturable.
• Support machine build, test, installation and commissioning phases.
• Contribute ideas to improve machine performance, build quality and efficiency.
