Job summary

Heidelberg Materials UK is seeking a Senior Technician to join the Quality & Technical team. You will perform sampling, testing and investigations across concrete, asphalt, recycled materials and quarry products, providing technical guidance and leading by example.

You will work across lab and field environments to uphold the highest quality standards, coach technicians, and support site teams with product-related issues and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Experience in construction materials testing, quality control or laboratory environments.
• Strong understanding of British Standards and quality procedures.
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
• Strong organisational and prioritisation skills.
• Computer literate with the ability to maintain accurate records and reports.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
• Flexible and committed approach to work, including occasional work outside standard hours.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a wider technical team.
• Strong leadership, coaching and mentoring capability.

Responsibilities

• Carry out sampling, field testing and specimen preparation of: Concrete, Asphalt, Recycled Materials, Quarry Products.
• Ensure all activities comply with relevant British Standards and company procedures.
• Conduct product laboratory trials and testing.
• Assist with the transportation and management of test specimens.
• Raise NCRs and Near Hits to support quality improvements.
• Coach and mentor Quality Control Technicians and Operations Teams.
• Maintain laboratory facilities, equipment and testing environments.
• Oversee trial laboratories and ensure testing facilities remain compliant.
