Job summary

V.Group is seeking a Chief Engineer for a Dry Bulk Carrier, based aboard a vessel with the Hiring Office in Shanghai. This contract role leads the Engine Department, ensuring safety of crew and machinery while enforcing company procedures on operations and environmental protection.

You will train officers and crew during embarkation, maintain logs, monitor fuel consumption and bunkering, and ensure compliance with statutory surveys.

Qualifications

• Experience leading an Engine Department on bulk carriers.
• Strong safety and environmental protection knowledge.
• Proven ability to train and mentor engine crew.

Responsibilities

• Lead Engine Department and ensure safety of crew, machinery and environment.
• Enforce company policies on machinery operations and safety procedures.
• Ensure engine officers and crew receive familiarisation training on embarkation.
• Maintain accurate engine room logs and monitor equipment performance.
• Oversee compliance with statutory and classification surveys and PMS.
• Manage fuel/oil consumption, bunkering and maintenance of propulsion plants.
