Job summary

V.Group is seeking a Chief Officer for Bulk Carrier on a contract basis. The role is shipboard with a Deck department focus and responsibilities spanning cargo and ballast operations, navigation, security, and environmental protection.

The candidate will lead safety initiatives and ensure regulatory compliance during voyages. Key duties include maintaining the hull, fittings and crew accommodations, managing deck stores, and supervising lifesaving and firefighting equipment.

Qualifications

• Experience as Chief Officer or senior deck officer on bulk carriers.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute cargo and ballast operations safely to maintain ship stability and integrity during voyages.
• Maintain a safe navigational watch as a key member of the bridge team and lead the deck department in emergencies.
• Oversee hull, fittings, crew accommodations, and deck stores; maintain maintenance records.
• Act as Ship Security Officer and supervise environmental protection measures, including garbage management.
• Promote safe working practices, conduct regular safety inspections, and ensure lifesaving and firefighting equipment is compliant with international regulations.
