Vox Network Consultants are recruiting for an Engineering Lead for a client in Kent.

You will be the cornerstone of our Hard FM services, ensuring all mechanical and electrical services are not only operational but optimised to enhance student and staff experiences across all campus facilities, including residences and academic estates.

Your leadership will drive our team to excel through proactive management, adherence to stringent compliance standards, and a commitment to continuous improvement and sustainability.

An additional £1,200 per annum will be paid to the postholder in recognition of the responsibilities associated with the Appointed Person role.

What you will do:

  1. Lead the Hard Services team to ensure the safe operation and repair of all M&E building services at client locations as required in the scope of work.
  2. Ensure the highest standards of statutory compliance, logbooks are kept up to date, CAFM is utilised to evidence PPM completions and any remedial actions are logged.
  3. Undertake the role of deputy responsible person for hard services activity, acting as a competent person to take day-to-day responsibility for controlling any identified risks (water, electrical, F Gas, etc.).
  4. Work with the Facilities and Workplace Experience Manager and team to ensure that campus reactive work orders and PPMs are completed in a timely and safe manner, mitigating any KPI penalties.
  5. Manage the controlled issue of hard services materials, consumables, and equipment.
  6. Develop relationships with core suppliers and support functions to improve and develop service delivery.
  7. Undertake routine and ad-hoc audits of both planned and reactive works to ensure high standards of compliance and quality are delivered.

What you bring:

  • The individual will require a high level of knowledge of building services systems and the ability to lead the site team from a technical perspective with a high level of technical ability.
  • Experience of holding Appointed Person (AP) appointments in previous roles, or a strong desire to undertake this responsibility. Full training will be provided to the successful candidate.
  • Hold a recognised trade qualification in electrical, mechanical, or plumbing disciplines.
  • Management experience of a diverse workforce, including handling HR issues.
