Job summary

OnTarget Communications in the United Kingdom is seeking an experienced Lead Product Engineer to lead the design and development of advanced machine control systems, spanning concept through deployment and ongoing improvement. This onsite role is based in Toomebridge, Northern Ireland or Chesterfield, England.

You will own the full product lifecycle, define architectures, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with software, hardware, manufacturing, and quality teams to deliver reliable,

Qualifications

• Proven experience in machine control system design (PLC, embedded systems, or similar).
• Strong knowledge of PLM and engineering processes.
• Demonstrated leadership experience in engineering environments.
• Relevant engineering degree (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or related field).

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of machine control systems, ensuring performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Own and manage all stages of the product lifecycle from concept to post-launch support.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including software, hardware, manufacturing, and quality engineering.
• Define system architectures, technical requirements, and design standards.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives and innovation in control system technologies.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence.
