Job summary

OnTarget Communications is seeking an experienced Lead Product Engineer to lead the design and development of advanced control systems. This hands-on leader will own the full product lifecycle from concept through deployment and continuous improvement.

The role requires expertise in machine control, PLM processes, and team leadership, with the ability to mentor engineers and collaborate across software, hardware, manufacturing, and quality teams in a fully onsite environment in the UK.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in machine control system design (PLC, embedded systems, or similar).
• Strong knowledge of PLM and engineering processes.
• Demonstrated leadership experience in engineering environments.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
• Relevant engineering degree (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or related field).

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of machine control systems, ensuring performance, reliability, and scalability
• Own and manage all stages of the product lifecycle, including concept development, design, validation, production, and post-launch support
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including software, hardware, manufacturing, and quality engineering
• Define system architectures, technical requirements, and design standards
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives and innovation in control system technologies
• Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence
