Job summary

OnTarget Communications is seeking a senior engineer to lead the design and development of machine control systems onsite in the UK. You will own all stages of the product lifecycle from concept through validation and production, ensuring performance, reliability, and scalability.

You will collaborate with software, hardware, manufacturing, and quality teams, define system architectures and design standards, and drive ongoing improvements.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in machine control system design (PLC, embedded systems, or similar).
• Strong knowledge of product lifecycle management (PLM) and engineering processes.
• Demonstrated leadership experience in engineering environments.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
• Relevant engineering degree (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or related field).

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of machine control systems, ensuring performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Own and manage all stages of the product lifecycle, including concept development, design, validation, production, and post-launch support.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including software, hardware, manufacturing, and quality engineering.
• Define system architectures, technical requirements, and design standards.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives and innovation in control system technologies.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence.
