Job summary

Girling Jones Ltd in Exeter is seeking a Building Services Engineer to take technical responsibility for M&E across around 100 properties in Devon and Somerset. You will lead maintenance, statutory compliance, and improvement projects, and manage contractors within a diverse public-sector estate.

You’ll have strong M&E knowledge, contractor management experience, and the ability to shape energy efficiency and investment strategies while delivering projects from concept to completion.

Qualifications

• Strong Mechanical, Electrical or Building Services background.
• Experience in property maintenance or multi-site estates.
• Understanding of M&E systems and statutory compliance.
• Ability to own projects and provide practical technical advice.

Responsibilities

• Manage M&E maintenance, statutory compliance and improvement programmes.
• Undertake building inspections, condition surveys and asset assessments.
• Deliver M&E projects from specification through to completion.
• Manage specialist contractors, consultants and maintenance providers.
• Oversee budgets, procurement, quality and Health & Safety.
• Identify opportunities to improve energy efficiency and modernise building systems.
