Job summary

Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an Electrical Technical Specialist to act as the authorised person for Low Voltage systems and lead safety-critical electrical operations within the Trust.

The role requires BS 7671 knowledge, HV training and a recognised electrical apprenticeship. You will manage LV distribution, standby power, earthing, and emergency lighting while ensuring regulatory compliance and safe, continuous patient care.

Qualifications

• Apprenticeship and Level 3 electrical qualification are required.
• HNC/HND or equivalent in electrical engineering preferred.
• Current BS 7671 qualification and HV training required.
• AP(HV) / CP(HV) accreditation or HV operational training.
• Engineering Council registration (EngTech/IEng) or equivalent.
• IOSH/NEBOSH health & safety qualification.

Responsibilities

• Maintain AP(LV) status and operate LV systems within defined scope.
• Enforce Electrical Safety Rules and permits-to-work requirements.
• Coordinate planned shutdowns and emergency restoration of supplies.
• Lead safety documentation, risk assessments and competencies verification.
• Provide technical leadership for safe operation of complex healthcare electrical infrastructure.
