Job summary

Sepura Ltd. is seeking a Linux/Android Platform Developer to join the Software Team in Cambridge. The role focuses on Android platform development, kernel configuration, and optimisation of Android performance on battery-powered embedded systems.

You will work in a Linux/Android environment, using git for version control, and contribute to architectural and design specifications while supporting integration testing and cross-functional collaboration within an agile team.

Qualifications

• Degree level qualification in a relevant discipline.
• Strong understanding of Android architecture and Linux kernel.
• Experience with Linux kernel and system programming.
• Experience optimising Linux/Android performance.
• Proficiency with Binder, AIDL, Services (C++/Java), Framework APIs, NDK/JNI, CTS, SE Linux.
• Excellent knowledge of C++ in real-time multi-processor environments.
• Experience developing for mobile platforms.
• Experience with debugging, profiling and memory-leak detection tools.
• Structured in working practices with quality software development processes.

Responsibilities

• Android platform development, kernel configuration including scheduler modifications, performance optimisations and latency minimisation.
• Trialling and integrating open-source development tools for debugging, profiling, code-coverage, memory-leak detection, etc.
• Prototyping demonstration systems to gather early feedback on proposed solutions.
• Producing architectural, design and test specifications.
• Integration testing, investigation and resolution of issues.
• Participation in project planning and technical reviews.
