Job summary

East Birmingham Network Academy is seeking a Lead Learning Mentor to lead our mentoring programme and work with students who face barriers to learning, helping them improve aspiration, attendance and behaviour.

You will collaborate with the Head Teacher, Pastoral Manager and teachers, acting as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead. You should be confident, resilient and able to build strong relationships while maintaining professional boundaries and expectations.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with challenging behaviour.
• Experience coordinating a programme, caseload or group of staff.
• Understand safeguarding and be ready to take on Deputy DSL responsibilities.
• Experience of the Key Stage 3 and 4 curriculum.
• Dedicated to making a difference and able to support young people to make the right choices.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the mentoring programme, keeping lists up to date and ensuring appointments occur.
• Oversee induction of all new students.
• Mentor students with challenging behaviour using restorative/de-escalation approaches.
• Provide academic, pastoral and learning support as a Personal Coach and Learning Mentor.
• Support students in lessons and around the Academy where pastoral intervention is needed.
• Act as Deputy DSL, supporting the DSL and Head Teacher with safeguarding.
• Track the impact of mentoring and behaviour interventions.
• Lead activities and group sessions to promote engagement across the school.
