Qualifications

• Strong Java development experience in commercial projects.
• Experience designing and building RESTful APIs and backend services.
• Experience designing microservices and event-driven architectures.
• Kubernetes and containerised environments; AWS cloud native development.
• Terraform and Infrastructure as Code practices.
• CI/CD tooling and modern DevOps practices.
• Monitoring/observability tools such as Grafana.
• Automated testing and engineering quality practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of robust, scalable Java services and APIs.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to other developers; promote best practices.
• Design and develop cloud-native microservices and event-driven architectures.
• Contribute to architectural decisions ensuring scalable, maintainable solutions.
• Deploy, operate and support applications across AWS and Kubernetes environments.
• Drive high standards across software engineering, including quality, testing and security.
• Champion CI/CD practices and continuous improvement across the lifecycle.
• Implement monitoring, logging and observability practices.
• Investigate production issues and own resolution with post-mortem improvements.
• Collaborate with engineers, architects, product teams and stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions.
• Contribute to engineering standards and development processes.
