Job summary

Leidos Lead Software Engineer in Farnborough offers a chance to shape critical national infrastructure. You will lead delivery of Java-based backend services, guide architecture decisions, and mentor engineers across the software team.

You will own CI/CD pipelines, enforce quality gates, and ensure secure, reliable systems for a central government customer, balancing speed with engineering excellence.

Qualifications

• Extensive software engineering experience with hands-on delivery.
• Experience leading technical decision-making and mentoring engineers.
• Strong understanding of design patterns and structured development approaches.
• Familiarity with relational databases (PostgreSQL), SQL, and JDBC.
• Experience with unit and integration testing as part of delivery.
• Familiarity with Agile processes and iterative delivery.
• Knowledge of CI/CD concepts and security scanning practices.
• Experience ensuring code reviews, quality gates, and secure pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for the software team and guide implementation decisions.
• Ensure adherence to established code review standards and quality gates.
• Develop, debug, test, document, and deploy software enhancements.
