Job summary

Zizzi in Cardiff is seeking an Assistant Head Chef to lead shifts, run the pass, and inspire a busy team across dine-in and delivery channels. This hands-on role partners with the Head Chef to maintain fast, high-quality service in a vibrant Italian restaurant.

You’ll coach junior chefs, manage stock, labour, and prep, and drive cost controls while staying calm under pressure during peak times, including evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a kitchen in a high-volume environment.
• Strong focus on food quality, safety, and consistency.
• Ability to coach and develop junior chefs.

Responsibilities

• Lead the kitchen and run the pass in the Head Chef’s absence, keeping service flawless, fast, and on point.
• Deliver exceptional food quality and consistency across dine-in and delivery orders.
• Support management by hitting kitchen metrics: stock, labour, prep and cost control.
• Coach and develop junior chefs to build confidence and team spirit.
• Ensure kitchen safety, cleanliness and food safety compliance.
