Job description

Do you want to work in an environment where science and technology are at the forefront of safeguarding the UK?

We are seeking a skilled Infrastructure Engineer with a strong understanding of Active Directory and experience supporting a wide range of Microsoft technologies. You will play a vital role in ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of our IT infrastructure while contributing to ongoing transformation projects.

Responsibilities include:

• Managing and maintaining Active Directory, including Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and OU structure.
• Supporting and enhancing infrastructure services across Windows Server, Microsoft Exchange, Office 365, and Azure AD.
• Implementing and supporting patching strategies using tools like WSUS or SCCM/MECM.
• Troubleshooting and resolving 2nd/3rd line infrastructure issues.
• Monitoring system performance to ensure high availability and security.
• Participating in infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and projects.
• Contributing to documentation, change management, and process improvements.

Qualifications and experience:

• Experience working with Microsoft and Linux technologies in secure, enterprise environments.
• Proficiency with DNS, PKI, Active Directory, DHCP, and distributed file shares.
• Knowledge of storage and backup technologies in physical and virtual environments.
• Hands-on experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware or Broadcom.
• Experience designing complex systems and preparing high-quality documentation.
• Understanding of network security and TCP/IP networking.
