Job summary

Omexom UK is seeking a Principal Design Engineer – Underground Cables to provide technical leadership for HV/EHV cable system design across major infrastructure projects. You will oversee complex design packages, ensure compliance with standards, and mentor junior engineers.

The role requires Chartered Engineer status or progression towards chartership, extensive experience with 132kV+ systems, and strong skills in CYMCAP, ELEK, AutoCAD, and MATLAB.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline; MSc/MEng advantageous.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or working towards chartership with relevant experience.
• Extensive HV/EHV underground cable system design experience (132kV+ ideal).

Responsibilities

• Act as technical lead across HV/EHV cable system design activities ensuring safe, robust, compliant solutions.
• Oversee complex cable design packages (33kV and above) from concept to detailed design.
• Develop, own, and update internal design standards, templates, and tools for HV/EHV designs.
