A leading consultancy firm in the UK is seeking a Principal Cable System Engineer to support high-profile projects in the energy sector. This role involves leading design delivery for cable system projects, ensuring compliance with regulations, and providing technical support. Ideal candidates will have a degree in Electrical Power Engineering and extensive experience in HV/EHV cable designs. Qualifications

• Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Power Engineering.
• Previous experience with consultancy, contractor or utility in the energy sector.
• Extensive experience in a cable related role supporting FEED design and/or detailed design.
• Able to manage and lead HV/EHV cable designs at all project stages.
• Experienced user of CYMCAP to support cable system design.
• Experience of working at EHV transmission voltages.
• Experience in the design of HV and EHV cable systems, for both HVAC and HVDC systems.
• Familiarity with National Grid and DNO standards and processes.
• Working as CDAE and TP141 authorisation.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design delivery for Cable System Projects up to 400 kV.
• Develop HV/EHV cabling systems specifications, concept/detailed design.
• Provide technical support to the team on all aspects of HV cable system engineering.
• Prepare plant and equipment technical specifications.
• Ensure project designs are compliant with CDM regulations.
• Perform technical calculations including cable size and rating calculations.
• Maintain good working relations with client, designer, and team.
• Support factory inspections Test (FAT).
