Job summary

The London Borough of Barking & Dagenham is seeking a Highways Inspector to ensure the streets, footways and related infrastructure meet safety and regulatory requirements across the borough.

You will assess, monitor and maintain road quality, support the Street Works team with license compliance under the New Roads & Street Works Act 1991, and collaborate with a broad stakeholder network to deliver resilient transport services.

Qualifications

• Relevant qualification (e.g. NRSWA accreditation).
• Degree level or equivalent education or experience.
• Evidence of continuing professional development.
• Knowledge of the regulatory and policy framework relating to Highways.

Responsibilities

• Assess, monitor and maintain the quality and safety of roadways, footpaths and related infrastructure.
• Support the Street Works team in assessing and monitoring license requirements.
• Collaborate with a wide stakeholder group across public, private and voluntary sectors.
• Contribute to resilient transport services and efficient operation of Barking and Dagenham's highways network.
