Job summary

East London Local Authority is seeking an experienced Highways Inspector to monitor utility and contractor works and ensure compliance with NRSWA, permit conditions, traffic management and local highway standards.

The role involves inspecting road and pavement works, assessing reinstatements, monitoring site safety, and liaising with utilities, contractors and the public. Outdoor work and driving licence are required for this position.

Qualifications

• Experience inspecting highways/streetworks.
• NRSWA Street Works Supervisor accreditation is required.
• Lantra Sector 12D qualification preferred.
• Good knowledge of NRSWA, permit schemes and highway regulations.

Responsibilities

• Inspect road, pavement and street works and assess reinstatements.
• Monitor permits, traffic management, signage and site safety.
• Identify defects and non-compliance and support enforcement, including Fixed Penalty Notices.
• Investigate complaints relating to roadworks and highway occupation.
• Support TTROs, Temporary Traffic Notices, road closures, events and filming.
• Liaise with utilities, contractors, highways teams and the public.
• Record inspections using GIS and street works management systems.

An East London Local Authority is looking for an experienced Highways/Streetworks Inspector to monitor utility and contractor works, ensuring compliance with NRSWA, permit conditions, traffic management requirements and local highway standards.

The Role

• Inspect road, pavement and street works and assess reinstatements.
• Monitor permits, traffic management, signage and site safety.
• Identify defects and non-compliance and support enforcement, including Fixed Penalty Notices.
• Investigate complaints relating to roadworks and highway occupation.
• Support TTROs, Temporary Traffic Notices, road closures, events and filming.
• Liaise with utilities, contractors, highways teams and the public.
• Record inspections using GIS and street works management systems.

Requirements

• Previous highways/streetworks inspection experience.
• NRSWA Street Works Supervisor accreditation.
• Lantra Sector 12D.
• Good knowledge of NRSWA, permit schemes and highway regulations.
• Strong communication and report-writing skills.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to work outdoors
