Job summary

Kier Design is seeking a Principal Highways & Drainage Engineer to lead complex construction engineering services across multiple locations in the UK. The role involves delivering safe, buildable designs and shaping engineering capabilities within a supportive, collaborative team.

As a Chartered engineer or with extensive relevant experience, you will guide technical standards, manage multidisciplinary design deliverables, and build strong client relationships while advancing sustainable

Qualifications

• Chartered member of a relevant professional institution (eg CEng MICE) with significant relevant experience.
• Experience leading highways and drainage design and delivery for complex projects.
• Ability to develop technical standards and design processes across multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of temporary works design and checking for highways and drainage solutions.
• Provide tender and bid support, including outline design schemes and feasibility studies.
• Manage project leadership responsibilities, including technical requirements and design deliverables oversight.
• Act as a technical help desk, providing engineering expertise to support understanding.
• Lead development of technical standards and design processes for consistent output quality.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with clients and stakeholders.
• Promote sustainable development and best practice in engineering.
