Job summary

WSP in the UK is seeking a Principal Engineer to join the Roads team, based in the North West at Manchester or Liverpool offices. You will lead day-to-day highway consultancy delivery across feasibility to construction, with client-facing responsibilities.

The role requires Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status, strong leadership, and experience across road geometry, drainage, sign design, and contract administration; hybrid work is available.

Qualifications

• Knowledge and experience of highway design across Life Cycle stages.
• Experience leading one or more design disciplines in road/public transport projects.
• Experience with contract documents, administration or site supervision.
• Ability to use design outputs in Civils 3D, OpenRoads, InfoDrainage or PDS.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day technical delivery of highway consultancy services.
• Manage budgets and prepare fee proposals for projects.
• Coordinate multi-disciplinary inputs and ensure design quality.
• Liaise with clients and manage expectations.
• Lead and develop other staff in design, detailing and drawings.
